‘Message of Islam’ conference on 10th

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) will organise “Message of Islam Conference” on Wednesday, February 10 with the aim to highlight the religion’s true message of love and peace.

Speaking at press conference on Sunday, PUC Chairman Maulana Muhammad Ashrafi said main objective of organising the conference was to counter propaganda and wrong interpretation of Islam by the extremists and terrorists. He said the conference would highlight true and real message and teachings of Islam to the international community and remove any misunderstanding on the issue. Ashrafi said Pakistan Ulema Council was organising the conference in the wake of prevailing situation in the country and Islamic world to help
eliminate extremism and sectarianism.

He said that Mufti-e-Azam of Palestine would be chief guest of the event in which more than 5,000 ulema and mashaikh and religious scholars from foreign countries like Saudi Arabia, Bosnia, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Qatar and other countries would be participating. He said that Muslim countries like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen were facing the brunt prolonged war. Innocent people are being killed, yet Muslims are blamed for terrorism, he added. The PUC chairman said the Council had always condemned sectarianism, violence and extremism in all its forms and manifestations.

He said political parties should uphold national interests supreme in major issues and opt for dialogue to ultimately evolve consensus. Ashrafi said PIA issue should be resolved amicably. He also requested PIA employees and union to take care of thousands of passengers facing problems and take steps to facilitate them. He said that it seemed that those elements who were not happy with peace as a result of operation Zarb-e-Azb, were involved in recent incidents of terrorism including bomb blast in Quetta.
